We all know the usual ways kids make money, which include lemonade stands, mowing lawns, baby-sitting and newspaper routes. After having a conversation with a group of kids I was enlightened by their additional means of making money.

Ive a great tip for you when your child is complaining that he or she cant find employment, get them together with other children. As a group they seem to share more and come up with amazing ways for kids to make money.

An 11 year old sells meals to his siblings. He receives 25 cents for scrambled eggs or a sandwich and more for complicated meals. His siblings prefer to stay in front of the TV or play games. Since his parents purchase the food, his income is pure profit.

Two siblings, ages 9 and 12 work at a karate school (two rooms and one office) twice a week emptying waste cans, sweeping floors and putting items in lost and found and whatever else is asked. They are paid $20 per week for their job.

Their mother said that she went with them to several places, small dance studios, yoga classrooms, and other small establishments before accepting and agreeing to the karate school job. Its a good fit, not over whelming and they feel very proud, she told us.

Three girls have designed their personal services menu and work together washing windows, dog walking, house sitting (bringing in mail, watering plants, yard care, garbage and what ever else is requested), and tutoring young children for school.

Their list goes on and on and can be accommodated year round for their clients. Often people ask if they can do other jobs because of their reputation. Their list is handed out to relatives, neighbors and friends. They are now in need of additional help!

At first I could not stop laughing when I heard this one from a young man. However, he is the star of his neighborhood and makes a steady income, and a good one. He calls it Scotts Carnival and friends from school and the neighborhood come to make a win!

He sells wadded up pieces of paper selected from a bucket for 5 cents. Inside the paper are pennies, nickels, dimes or quarters and guaranteed only 10 pennies per bucket so you know your odds. He also has a game throwing pennies at a bowl across the room.

If a penny stays in the bowl the person receives a dime, if not they lose their penny. The carnival is opened for 2 hours on certain days (usually the same days each week). These are just a couple of the games. Guess who is the big winner?
